Lets change our attitude

Last month i was in a marriage ceremony of my relatives.I was excited to see all my nearies and dearies over there. After the initial greetings people began to gather and started gossiping about the third person.I wasn’t amazed as it was the real identity of Nepalese people.Obviously as always they began their conversation with “oh! look sharmila’s daughter has been to USA.She must be the happiest one huh!”Another added “yeah!my daughter in law’s sister’s son has also got the visa last week”.The conversation took a start and i could sense that there was no stooping point. They were in a Marathon to show their smartness by telling about the latest happening in USA.Most of them were even building their castles and didn’t hesitate to tell that “I’m not going to give my daughter who isn’t /hasn’t been abroad.”I was left numb and i asked myself “what about you man?”If people are carrying such kind of mentality i was surely going to be bachelor or i had to show some document proving that i had also been to their dream land so please give me your daughter.Amazing even just for the sake of marriage i had to throw myself to the foreign land as my achievements by staying in Nepal was not going to assure to those kind of people.I  just wanted to leave and all of sudden one of them asked me ‘What are you doing these days?”I reluctantly told her that as i knew my plan was not going to entice these people. Before i could finish Dhristi aunt asked me”What are you going to do in Nepal when everyone is going abroad, have you gone crazy?”I was flabbergasted to hear that line”have you gone crazy”

They pierced  their nose hearing my plans to stay in Nepal as if it was a stingy smell coming from the Bagmati river.I was considered totally as a looser and they were busy discouraging me to stay here by putting few examples they had seen nearby. They didn’t know that whatever they were saying was falling into a deaf ears. It’s not the first time i saw entangled in  such a scenario .I believe most of us have confronted this time and often.I feel really sorry for those kind of people who can go unstoppable talking about the foreign countries and have to struggle even for few sentences to talk about their country’ Nepal’,its beautiful places and its future prospective s.These are the one who listen with rapt attention what Obama has to say and with a cotton stuffed in their ears with what Nepalese leaders have to say.i believe i wont be wrong if i say that these are the ones who has the name of the states of USA at the tip of their tongue and have to scratch their brain and hardly they will be able to name the districts of their own Zone .Isn’t it pitiful?

I don’t find anything wrong with my plans to stay in Nepal .Why should i go abroad? just because the crowd is going over there.I’m afraid don’t i have right to sketch my own future?I believe in myself that I’ll surely get my goals and be what i want to be staying in Nepal.I might not sound good to few of you but let me tell you that when i hear the miserable condition of the Nepalese people in abroad countries i feel like turning the volume louder so that everyone hears about it and similar is the case when i hear Nepalese doing something innovative while staying in Nepal. Why can’t we see the good things in our surrounding and in our self.Is there anything worthy to feel proud for the guy who has been abroad? Why don’t we understand tat its just the beginning.Yeah! it will be really a moment to cherish if s/he will come up with great achievements.

Let me make it clear if you are left in confusion that I’m not against abroad study and why should i?But I’m against those people who think that they have nothing to do with Nepal and expect the government to do everything for them.I’m against those people who feel proud for their far-far relatives who has just been abroad but don’t feel that extend of pride for the one who is so near and has achieved something staying over here.I believe its the level of achievement, social recognition and contribution to the mankind that matters rather than just going abroad and earning a little bit of money for their family. In addition, I’m against those people who can name the president of USA but unable to name the president of Nepal.

It’s all because of we people. We show due respect for those ones who has their son/daughter  abroad  and treat like a skid row for the one who has their children staying here and contributing to motherland.Lets change our attitude. As just going abroad is not going to pay.It pays when you utilize those knowledge  that you have for the sake of personal development, for the sake of mankind and for the sake of your country.Lets develop a habit to appreciate those people who has contributed for this country.Lets ask our self”does talking about that fellow who is abroad and has achieved nothing make a sense?”Has it got anything to do with us?Then you will come to the conclusion what i meant to say.If we want to talk then why not about our own nation ,about it’s future prospect ,the future hidden opportunities  and about our best effort to uplift this nation.

Last but not the least,”Don’t wait until conditions are perfect .They will never be.” Expect future obstacles and difficulties and solve them as they arise. Also remember, there is a good side in every situation Find it.See the good side and whip discouragement.Till next time…..
